Rock-N-Rumble Car Show and Cruise

Join Main Street Altus as we cruise into summer with the 7th Annual car show and Cruise.
The fun will begin with 50's Friday. Dress in your favorite 50's fashions for the day and then join us on the the courthouse square that evening for a classic 50's style sock hop! Prizes will be awarded for the best costume as well as many other contests planned for the evening.
The fun continues through Saturday with the Firefighter's Burnout Competition on Industrial Road. They start peeling rubber at 10:00 am. After the burn out, head downtown for the car show. Enjoy live entertainment on stage as you walk through the rows of cars. All entries must be ready for judging by 12:00 pm - the winners will be announced at 5:00 pm on the stage.
Saturday will also host the Stereo Sound Off/ dB Drag Competition sponsored by Smiley's Tires Tunes and Tints, 1921 N. Main and for the first time, Smiley's is also sponsoring a Dyno contest with trophies for the best Harley motorcycle, best motorcycle that's not a Harley, Best Street Car and Best Tuner Car. It doesn't stop there! Be one of thousands on Main Street Saturday night for our classic closed cruise. This year Main Street Altus has shut down Hwy 283 for 2 full miles - that's a mile longer than last year! Only cars manufactured before 1978 will be allowed to cruise from 6-7pm when the cruise will be opened up. Don't want to cruise? TAILGATE!! Be on the lookout for the Tailgate Patrol - Prizes will be awarded for the best tailgate parties!

Chili Cook-Off

Join Main Street Altus as we celebrate our Agricultural Heritage!!! Come downtown and enjoy some of the best chili around and learn more about the cotton industry and the impact it has had on our community. Agricultural displays and demonstrations will take place through out the day - check back for a complete schedule!
Think your chili has what it takes to be a winner?? Enter it in the cook-off and find out!! Prizes will be awarding in several chili cookin' categories as well as for the best in small and large group booths and spirit.
